Your knee is the largest joint in your body. It is very complex and is made of up of bones, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. The bones include the lower end of the femur (thighbone), the upper end of the tibia (shinbone), and the patella (kneecap). The knee is considered a “hinge” joint, because it can bend and straighten like a hinged door. However, because it does not rotate in every direction, it is easily injured.
