Ortho Express

Injuries don’t wait. Neither should you.

Injuries don’t happen on a 9–5 schedule, and sometimes you can’t wait for an appointment. New England Orthopedic Specialists Ortho Express gives you an alternative to waiting in a crowded Emergency Room with same day access to Orthopedic Specialists for acute situations.

What injuries do you treat?

We treat orthopedic injuries of children, adults, and seniors.  From soccer practice injuries to slipping on ice, we treat non-emergent injuries related to bones, joints, muscle:

  • Broken Bones
  • Sprains
  • Dislocations
  • Sports Injuries
  • Hand/Wrist Injuries
  • Shoulder Injuries
  • Knee Injuries
  • Foot/Ankle Injuries
  • Worker’s Comp Injuries

On-site digital x-rays are offered for one-stop treatment.

IMPORTANT: If you have a life-threatening injury, open fracture, excessive bleeding, head trauma or spine injury, go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Ortho Express is NOT for chronic orthopedic problems, second opinions, or pain medication refills.

What is New England Orthopedic Specialists Ortho Express?

New England Orthopedic Specialists (NEOS) Ortho Express is the first urgent orthopedic care facility on Boston’s North Shore.  We are part of New England Orthopedic Specialists LLC, a comprehensive orthopedic practice with specialized physician providers in all subspecialties of orthopedics.  We provide immediate orthopedic care to patients with injuries, such as sprains, fractures, and sports injuries, eliminating the long wait times and high co-pays associated with emergency rooms.

What are the benefits of going to New England Orthopedic Specialists Ortho Express?

In a nutshell: faster care, lower cost, expert care.

At New England Orthopedic Specialists Ortho Express you will be seen by healthcare providers who have specialized training in orthopedics and a better understanding of orthopedic injuries. If you are seen in an emergency room for an orthopedic injury, you will typically have to follow up with an orthopedic office anyway. We save you the time, hassle and cost of two visits. In addition, in the ER most orthopedic injuries have lower priority than other serious and life-threatening conditions, increasing your wait time.

Who staffs New England Orthopedic Specialists Urgent Care?

New England Orthopedic Specialists Ortho Express is staffed by certified orthopedic providers from New England Orthopedic Specialists LLC. All members of the New England Orthopedic Specialists urgent care team are specially trained in treating orthopedic injuries. We are staffed by Physician Assistants, Medical Assistants and radiology technicians with an orthopedic surgeon on call at all times. Your initial consultation will be with one of our Physician Assistants experienced in orthopedic urgent-care. The PA will examine and assess your injury, order diagnostic tests, consult with one of our Orthopedic physicians, when necessary, and prescribe a definitive course of treatment targeted to the specific injury.

What about insurance and copays?

NEOS Ortho Express accepts MOST major insurances. If you have a question regarding your plan, please feel free to call. A visit to Ortho Express will have the same co-pay as a doctor’s office. If your plan requires one, your co-pay will be collected during the time of your visit. The co-pay at NEOS Ortho Express is generally less than what an emergency room co-pay would be. If your insurance requires a referral, please get that from your primary care. Backdated referrals are not allowed by insurance carriers.

What about follow-up?

With a visit to Ortho Express you will have immediate access to New England Orthopedic Specialists physicians if you require any follow-up care. Our staff will coordinate an appointment for you before you leave the clinic. Of course, you may also be seen by an alternate provider if you choose. In addition, NEOS Ortho Express will enter a clinic note to document your care and share it with your primary care physician or family doctor.
